You can buy a bigger battery with a higher mAh rating.

Many manufacturers offer higher capacity versions of their laptop batteries. It has to be said that if your battery is only lasting for 1 hour it is coming to the end of its life.

Also third party manufacturers offer higher capacity batteries for many popular laptops – just be careful to use only high quality products as inferior batteries can be dangerous.

The make should be your primary consideration in buying a battery. Li-Ion batts are better than Ni-MH. The former can deliver better performance, long lasting power and with less memory leaks.

Go to your manufacturer’s web site and they probably offer a bigger battery like a 12 cell or something and order it.

It depends on your laptop’s model. Some brands like DELL have 6 cells batteries, 8 cells batteries, or more and more cells last longer. But don’t count on batteries that much, for my experience, it won’t last over 3HR. Of course…not for sure…technology developes so fast, some new special models like IBM X60 says it can last more than 12HR.
