Myleneane asked:

When I'm recharging my laptop's battery, do I need to recharge it completely first? How long will it take to charge the battery after the initial charging and conditioning cycles are done?

Also, if I use the laptop for an extended period of time, it will run out of battery power? Can I keep it plugged into the electrical outlet and just use it like a desktop PC?

The laptop battery on my HP has almost died after about two years. I'm looking for a replacement laptop battery, but I can't find much info on this. Can anybody offer some advice or point me in the right direction?

Lately my laptop computer does not run on its battery power and I was trying to determining whether it was a problem with the battery or with the computer itself. When I press the button that is actually on the battery, it indicates either a 25% or 75% charge and that just doesn't make any sense to me. Does anybody know if this is a problem with the battery or with the laptop computer?
Thenoobie asked:

I have a laptop computer that I've been using instead of a desktop PC. I have an external keyboard and mouse that I use instead of the small laptop ones. I also have a laptop battery that I have not used yet. It is the standard 9-cell battery that came with the computer.

Is there something I I can do now to extend the laptop battery's life before I first charge it since I've been using the computer with the wall charger so far? My brother told me to discharge it completely on a weekly basis and fully recharge it. I have also heard that leaving the laptop plugged in all the time is bad for replacement laptop batties. Is this true? And what should I do regarding my battery if im not really planning on using all that much?

I will be using the laptop solely on battery power when I go on trips and a lot of the time while I'm away at school.
