Myleneane asked:
When I'm recharging my laptop's battery, do I need to recharge it completely first? How long will it take to charge the battery after the initial charging and conditioning cycles are done?
Also, if I use the laptop for an extended period of time, it will run out of battery power? Can I keep it plugged into the electrical outlet and just use it like a desktop PC?
If you plug your laptop into a wall outlet, you can take out the battery and and not use it at all.
The amount of time that batteries hold their charge will depend on their age and the type of battery chemistry that they employ. The newer lithium-ion batteries hold their charge for a longer period of time. Also, battery capacities are rated in milliamp-hours and the higher the number, the longer they will hold a charge. Higher rated battery packs usually have more cells in the pack.
Lithium-ion batteries do not sufferer from memory effect, so you don’t need to completely discharge and charge them. You can simply recharge them when you need to.
Your laptop’s screen is the biggest energy user of your laptop’s components. So use a screen saver and adjust the brightness level so that it will consumer less power.
