Twisted Lew asked:

Why does the battery icon show up on the bottom of the laptop screen with the other icons when I have the laptop plugged into the charger? Do I have to unplug the laptop from the charger to use it?

It sounds to me that your battery is not properly charging when you have it plugged in to the charger. It sounds like you may need to start shopping for replacement laptop batteries.

With my laptop, when the battery is fully charged not being used I need to disconnect it from the charger. Maybe yours is like that. Otherwise, you might need a new laptop battery.

Your battery charger comes in two parts. Make sure that all of the connections are secure at the laptop connector, at the converter unit that is inline and that the plug is in the wall properly. If the electrical outlet is on a switched circuit, make sure that’s on, too. Don’t laugh…I did that once and it took me twenty minutes to figure it out.
