My laptop battery only runs my computer for five or ten minutes now. It's an older Gateway laptop and I can't find a replacement laptop battery for it anywhere. I'm going to get an external laptop battery for it, but I don't know what to look for. Your help isĀ appreciated!
I bought an external laptop battery a couple of months ago, so the experience is still fresh in my head. The number 1 thing to look for is that the battery has the same or nearly the same voltage output. Most external laptop batteries have a switch on them that provide several voltage outputs…just make sure that one of them meets your laptop’s requirement. You also need to make sure that the battery comes with an adapter that matches your laptop’s power connection. Read the description carefully to make sure that it does, and if you can’t tell then simply ask the supplier.
Those are the two absolutes. Now you will want to see want the external laptop battery’s storage capacity is because this will correlate to how long it will operate you computer. This is either expressed in milliamp-hours or watt-hours, and the higher that this number is the better. Higher rated storage capacities usually mean that the battery has more cells in it.
